Terms of service

These terms cover two things: using this website, and working with Thomascodelab on a project. They are written to be read. If anything is unclear, ask before you agree to it.

In short

  • You receive a fixed quote in writing before any work starts.
  • Half is paid to begin and half at launch.
  • Two rounds of design revisions and thirty days of fixes after launch are included.
  • Once you have paid in full, the site is yours: code, content, domain and hosting.

01About these terms

Thomascodelab is a web design studio that works remotely with small businesses. It is run by Thomas Dimitrios Tzoumakas, a sole trader based in Athens, Greece (tax number, ΑΦΜ: 155910628). In these terms, “the studio” means Thomascodelab, and “you” means the person or business visiting the website or commissioning a project.

Sections 2 to 4 apply to everyone who uses this website. Sections 5 to 12 apply when you commission a project. Sections 13 to 16 apply in both cases.

How the studio handles personal data is set out in the Privacy policy.

Part one · The website

02Using the website

The website exists to show the studio’s work and explain its services. Its content is provided as is: the studio takes care to keep it accurate and up to date, but does not guarantee that it is complete, free of errors or always available.

Nothing on the website is a binding offer. The scope and price that bind both sides are the ones in your written quote (section 5).

By using the website you accept the terms in this part.

03Concept sites

Some of the websites shown as examples are concept sites: fictional demonstrations made to show what the studio can build. The businesses in them do not exist, and the names, prices and other details they show are invented. They are not real offers, and any resemblance to a real business is coincidental.

Part two · Client projects

05Quote and agreement

Before any work starts, you receive a fixed quote in writing. It sets out what will be built, the price and the expected timeline.

The agreement is made when you accept the quote in writing (an email is enough) and pay the deposit. It consists of the quote and these terms. If the two differ, the quote takes priority.

A fixed quote means the price does not change unless you ask for something that is not in it. Work outside the quote is agreed and priced separately, before it is done.

06Payment

The price is paid in two parts: 50% as a deposit before work begins, and 50% at launch.

Third-party costs, such as the domain name and hosting, are not part of the studio’s fee and are paid by you.

07Timeline

A typical project takes about two weeks from deposit to launch. That estimate depends on you providing content and feedback on time. The timeline for your own project is stated in your quote.

If content or feedback arrives late, the launch date moves by at least as long. The studio will tell you promptly if anything on its side affects the schedule.

08Revisions

Two rounds of design revisions are included in the price. A round is one collected set of changes to the design you have been shown.

Changes beyond those two rounds are quoted separately, before they are made.

09Your content

You supply the content for your website (text, photographs, logos, menus, prices), or approve content prepared for you, before launch.

By supplying or approving content, you confirm that you have the right to use it. Responsibility for the content you supply or approve rests with you.

10Ownership, domain and hosting

Once the project is paid in full, the website is yours: you own its code and its content.

Third-party components used in the site, such as fonts and open-source libraries, remain under their own licences.

The domain and hosting accounts are in your name, so you stay in control of them. The studio can find and set up hosting and a domain on your behalf. The cost of those third-party services is yours.

11After launch

For thirty days after launch, the studio fixes defects at no extra cost. A defect is something that does not work as agreed in the quote. New features, new content and design changes are not defects and are quoted separately.

12Portfolio

The studio may show the finished work in its portfolio. If you would rather it did not, just say so and the project will be left out.

General

13Liability

The studio does its work with care. Its liability to you for a project, whatever the cause, is limited to the fees you have paid for that project, to the extent the law allows.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

14Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any project carried out under them, are governed by Greek law. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking it through is decided by the courts of Athens, Greece. This does not affect rights you have as a consumer that the law does not allow to be set aside.

15Changes to these terms

The studio may update these terms. For use of the website, the version on this page applies, with the date shown at the top. For a project, the terms that applied when you accepted your quote continue to apply.
